The Jada System
Postpartum hemorrhage is a major cause of morbidity in the postpartum period. At Charleston Birth Place, we have invested in and are strong advocates for the Jada System by Alydia Health when it comes to controlling postpartum bleeding.
What is the Jada System by Alydia Health
Jada System was first thought of by Alydia Health, a team of biomedical engineers with the aim of making childbirth safe for mothers everywhere.
A major cause of PPH (postpartum hemorrhage) is uterine atony, which is the inability of the uterus to contract. The Jada System helps by inducing contractions using a gentle vacuum. This vacuum causes the uterus to contract and the vessels to constrict, resulting in decreased bleeding.
The Jada instrument is made of silicon, with 20 inner vacuum pores. It’s easy to use with minimal risk of injury.
Facts On Hemorrhaging
Postpartum hemorrhage is when the mother bleeds heavily during or after the delivery of the baby. It is a rare but serious condition, affecting 1 in 5 mothers worldwide. It can lead to a number of devastating signs such as:
- Sheehan syndrome
- Swelling
- Pain
- Drowsiness
Postpartum hemorrhage can be due to a number of causes such as:
- Uterine atony
- Uterine inversion
- Uterine rupture
- Blood clotting diseases
- Placental abnormalities
To avoid serious complications such as shock, it is important to treat the condition promptly.
Benefits Of Having This System At The Birth Center
The Jada System provides a quick and effective treatment for PPH.
According to the PEARLE IDE study conducted by Alydia Health on 100 deliveries, the use of the Jada System resulted in a reduced need for further intervention to control bleeding.
By offering the Jada System at Charleston Birth Place, we aim to help mothers have safe labor and manage PPH naturally, without the need for medical intervention.
Are Birth Centers Safe?
Yes! Birth centers such as Charleston Birth Place, which have a team of qualified Midwives and Nurses on board are completely safe if you have a low-risk pregnancy.
According to some research, women that deliver at a free-standing birth center have observed the following positive outcomes:
- Better perineal integrity
- More chances of spontaneous vaginal delivery
- Lower risk for emergency C-section
- Satisfactory care during the labor
- No maternal mortalities
