Lesley's Story Lesley was one of the lucky ones that knew exactly what she wanted to be as a young girl. She loved getting to know patients throughout their pregnancy and being there for the excitement of the birth. Midwifery allowed her to combine both of those joys into one career!

What is a Birth Center Birth Like? Birth center births can best be defined as having full autonomy over your body, birth, and baby. Women choose what positions they labor in or how they want to deliver their baby, and we support them in those decisions as best as we can.

How Do Babies Breathe in Water Birth? Babies are in water during the whole pregnancy and are used to that feeling. When they are first born, they are still getting their oxygen from the umbilical cord, so as they come out and into the water they are leaving the warm water from the amniotic fluid into the familiar warm water of the tub. They don't take their first breath until after they are out of the water and feel the cold air on their face. It is a safe, calming way to give birth for both mama and baby!
