Should I Get My Baby Adjusted?

In our last blog post, ‘Should I Get Adjusted While Pregnant?’, we addressed why visiting a chiropractor can be an amazingly beneficial experience for pregnant women. Chiropractic care can help control symptoms of nausea, relieve back, neck, or joint pain, and help you maintain a healthy pregnancy overall. Well, not only is chiropractic care a huge plus for pregnant women, but it can also be beneficial for your baby too!

So, here is our part two on chiropractic care: answering whether you should also get your baby adjusted!

Chiropractic care focuses on aligning the spine to both relieve pain and also improve function. Since your baby, like all children, is still growing constantly, aligning their spine from the very beginning lends itself to the healthy development of the body and brain. In a study that observed 1,250 infants, they founded that 95% of them had at least one subluxation after birth. These misalignments can be linked back to symptoms such as colic, frequent ear infections, constipation, and irritability. Adjusting your baby early on can help set them up for optimal development as they grow.

Benefits from Pediatric Chiropractic Care

  • Improve Sleep

Chiropractic care relieves stress in the body which can improve sleep.

  • Improve Immune + Nervous System

The immune system is connected to the nervous system, so by improving the nervous system by improving movements of the spinal bones you are able to improve your immune system as well!

  • Improve Brain Development

The brain’s nerves are strongly connected to the rest of the body. When you release the pressure on bones and joints, it promotes improvement in brain function and development.

Adjusting a baby is quite different from an adult session. There is almost no force needed to adjust their spines, so adjustment instead consists of light and easy pressing (about the same amount of pressure you would use to touch your eyeball) on their bodies.

Foundation Family Chiropractic offers pediatric chiropractic care at their office located in Charleston Birth Place! With the stresses of childbirth and an infant’s growth,  your baby’s spine goes through a lot. Chiropractic care can improve the effects of that stress from day one.
