Lesley Rathbun CNM, FNP, MSN

Owner/Director/Midwife

Lesley is the founder of Charleston Birth Place. She has worked with hundreds of birthing women as a labor and delivery nurse, and nurse-midwife. She has worked in all areas of obstetrics and women's health. She began her career as an RN in the 1980s. Her background includes high risk labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care, surgical assist, childbirth educator and experience in a low risk freestanding birth center. She attained her masters degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and is dual certified as both a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Before starting the birth center, she worked as a nurse-midwife with Low Country Women's Specialist and has caught over 500 babies. 

Judy Osborne CNM, MSN

Midwife

Judy Osborne has been a Certified Nurse Midwife for 10 years.  She began as an RN in the 1980's.  Nursing experience includes Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Nursery, Postpartum, and Labor and Delivery.  Education:  1982 Associate Degree in Nursing, University of Alaska, 1992 Bachelors Degree In Nursing, University of Virginia, 1994 Masters Degree in Nursing with focus Critical Care Obstetrics, and 1998 Post Masters degree in Midwifery, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC.  Judy has delivered over 1300 babies in the Low Country.
 " I have always believed that in normal, healthy pregnancies, the baby should choose its birthday, and laboring women should be able to do what their bodies tell them to do. I am so excited to be a part of a stand alone birth center. I can now labor mamas and deliver babies in a safe,comfortable and beautiful atmosphere.  Also,I plan to continue seeing women for their annual gyn visits. I look forward to meeting the women/partners who choose the Charleston Birth Place. "
 

Renee Crowe LMT

Office Manager/Massage Therapist

Renee is our office manager and massage therapist. She has many years experience with managing medical offices. She attained her massage therapist certification from the Southeastern School of Neuromuscular & Massage Therapy. Her massage modalities include Swedish, Neuromuscular, and Pregnancy. She is currently persuing her doula certification.
