Kate Shealy

ADN, RN

Kate was born and raised in South Carolina and has been in Charleston for the past 8 years. She went to the College of Charleston to study biology and graduated as an RN from Trident Technical College. During her clinical experiences she fell in love with the birthing process and felt very called to work with mothers and babies. She began working at the Charleston Birth Place after nursing school and enjoys being able grow as a nurse. She feels it is very rewarding and empowering to work with families and witness their inner strength and abundant love that results from birthing. “We have a secret in our culture, it’s not that birth is painful, it’s that woman are strong” –Laura Stavoe Harm
